Long cast are needed at times to reach bait working out deeper, and often you have to be good enough to cast well into the wind. Here's Tricia using a heavy bait to go against a typical "fresh" Laguna breeze . That bowed up rod has been a common sight lately.

One thing we've learned over the years, whether it be a reef, sandbar, point, whatever...is that typically you will have bigger but fewer fish on upwind side, and more but smaller on the lee side. Choose where you want to fish based on what you are looking for.  Us? We much prefer better to more... How 'bout you?
